INTRO TO Mindfulness-based stress reduction - 6 Week Program

Winter 2025 Program- Registration now open!

January 8th - February 12th!

Join CMP facilitator Lisa Sheehan this winter for an introduction to the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program created at UMASS Medical School by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979.  This experiential, introspective program examines the science behind mindfulness, the psychology and physiology of stress, and encompasses a variety of mindfulness techniques, including meditation. Explore how mindfulness supports present moment awareness of sensations, thoughts, and emotions - building internal resources to manage stress and our responses.

No previous experience is necessary to participate in this 6-week Intro to MBSR program. All are welcome. All sign ups are tax deductible and donations for scholarships are encouraged for those that have the means. Nonprofit, healthcare and government workers are encouraged to apply and let us know if a scholarship would be valuable. Learn more here

WORK WITH US

  • We are passionate about expanding access to mindful meditation and are currently building a corps of bi-lingual facilitators. Priority languages are Spanish, Portuguese, Vietnamese and Haitian Creole.

What does it mean to Facilitate? (Verb) To Make Easier; To Help Bring About

We provide support and mentoring for facilitators and pay a stipend.

If you are interested in becoming part of the CMP facilitator community, please take a moment to read about our facilitator review process.

Interested facilitators are asked to participate in several of our sessions (virtual or in person) prior to expressing interest in CMP. By participating in 3-5 of our sessions, you’ll gain insight into our programming style and find the answers to many of your potential questions.

After participating in CMP sessions, you’re welcome to send an initial email expressing your interest in becoming a CMP Facilitator. In that email, please let us know which CMP sessions you attended.

You can expect a response email from us in 2-5 business days. In the response email we’ll ask some questions to get to know you better and to learn more about your personal meditation practice.

Upon receiving and carefully reviewing your response email, you may be invited to a zoom ½ hour interview with us.

Later in the process, you may be asked to provide a recording of yourself leading a meditation session, or lead a sample session.

We recognize that each member of our community is special. We are thoughtful throughout the facilitator selection process, which may take a few months to complete.

Thank you for taking the time to read about our facilitator review process.

Please contact us for more information or if you have any questions about becoming a meditation facilitator.

  • We are looking to grow our community of digitally native facilitators. You will find that your practice can deepen with your guidance of meditation sessions.
